It would be good to phone a couple of other clubs to speak to people involved in choosing their software.   I guess that fits with the usual approach to buying anything - get three quotes, compare for quality and cost.

I found a great site that offers excellent free advice on choosing club software - a good sign, in my view, of a software company that is worth considering.
